PELVIC HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY
A pelvic floor physiotherapy session will include a detailed assessment of your posture, pelvic, hip and lumbar mechanics and will usually include an internal exam to assess pelvic floor muscle strength and tone. Common conditions include bowel and bladder dysfunction (urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, urinary frequency/urgency), pelvic organ prolapse, painful sex conditions, prenatal and postnatal pain and exercise, labour preparation/education, and pelvic girdle pain.
Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) or Functional Dry Needling (FDN) involves inserting a tiny monofilament needle into a muscle in order to release shortened bands of muscles tissue and decrease trigger point activity. Dry needling is an effective treatment for acute and chronic musculoskeletal or neuropathic pain, rehabilitation from injury, and even injury prevention.
