A study, recently published in Psychiatry Research, followed almost 200,000 long-distance cross-country skiers for up to two decades, finding that skiers are 50% less likely to develop depression than the general population. The study authors believe that the lower risk of depression in skiers is mainly due to their physically active lifestyle.
